Very interesting idea.
Some questions/comments:
What did the business relationship between the village and MVECA?

How does the proposed plan compare to AT&T Uverse?

What are the competitive risks if commercial entities decide to enter the market and compete with the village?

MVECA is a non-profit council of governments and currently provides fiber based internet service to the village offices in the Bryan Center. MVECA also currently provides internet services to the public school system in the village.

The internet component of AT&T Uverse in the village utilizes DSL serrvice which is limited in speed as it is provided over old copper wires. Once fiber is installed, villagers will be able to receive entertainment services utilizing online providers such as Netflix, Sling TV, Roku, Apple TV and many others.

The two providers in town might lower prices but they will not be able to compete in the long run as fiber is a superior delivery system. Local control and self-determination are key components of our marketing effort and a community owned internet service will help protect our privacy.
