There is an existing billing system in place. MVECA, a public, not for profit, regional council of governments has an existing data center with very adequate capacity to serve the village. The village has a very small and manageable footprint that will allow an easy transition to fiber.

The speed & durability of fiber also work in the village’s favor. The infrastructure is estimated to easily last more than 30 years (most likely much longer) and provides almost infinite capacity to carry data well into this century.

Springs-Net Committee

Timothy Barhorst, Scott Fife, Nick Gaskins, Jordan Gray, Ellis Jacobs, Denny Powell, Thor Sage

NEWS ABOUT MUNICIPAL FIBER

https://www.yellow-springs.net/ys-fiber-news/next-century-cities-site-launched

https://www.yellow-springs.net/ys-fiber-news/next-century-cities-site-launched#comments

Uncategorized

BLOG-From the Fiber Forum posted to YSnews.com 4/26/2015“Saturday morning, residents of Yellow Springs gather in the Morgan Building next to the high school to talk about a municipal fiber optic network.
